Marco A. Azpúrua received the B.Sc. degree in telecommunications engineering, in 2008, and the M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the Universidad Central de Venezuela, Caracas, in 2013. In 2018, received the Ph.D. degree in Electronics Engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Barcelona, Spain, for its contributions to Full Time-Domain EMI measurements and their applications in complex scenarios.
Currently, he is working as an Associate Professor at the Electronic Engineering Department at UPC where he is part of the research staff of the Electromagnetic Compatibility Group (GCEM). Moreover, Dr. Azpúrua is the Co-founder of EMC Barcelona, a start-up company where he plays the role of Quality Assurance Manager. Formerly (2008-2013), he was a Researcher in the Applied Electromagnetics Laboratory, Instituto de Ingeniería (FII), Caracas-Venezuela.
Dr. Azpúrua is a member of the CISPR/CIS/B/WG 1 & WG 7, of the IEEE EMC and IMS societies, and the IEEE International Committee on Electromagnetic Safety.
Dr. Azpúrua was a recipient of the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society Faculty Course Development Award in 2020, the UPC Special Doctoral Award for the Best Thesis in the field of ICT-Electronics (2017-2018 academic year), and the Best Symposium Student Paper Award at the EMC Europe International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility in 2017.
His research interests include electromagnetic compatibility, antenna and microwave measurement technologies, estimation of measurement uncertainty in complex test systems, and validation methods.
