Ferran Silva received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Barcelona, Spain, in 1989 and 1997, respectively. He is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Electronic Engineering, UPC. Since 1993, he is the Head of the Electromagnetic Compatibility Group in the same university (GCEM-UPC). His research interests include electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) in near field and time domain, with application to transport, medical and industrial areas.

F. Silva has made more than 140 publications about EMC in journals, conferences and books. He has participated in 32 research projects related to EMC. He is Senior Member of the IEEE EMC Society and has been Chair of the Spanish Chapter of the same society in two different periods. He is also Member of the EMC Spanish Standardisation Committees SCTC77-210 and the CTN208 SCCISPR210A. He was Chairman in 2006 and 2019 of the EMC Europe International Symposium editions in Barcelona. Since 2004 is member of the EMC Europe International Steering Committee.
